Zhen

Zhen started with Dr. Sauer & Partners as an intern in 2018, before becoming a valued permanent member of the team. He enjoys working in a specialist consultancy with a strong heritage in SCL design and innovation in tunnelling. He worked in the SCL design team on the Bank Station Capacity Upgrade project before moving on to the construction phase as the Designer's Representative on Site. Zhen now works across multiple design projects with a specific focus on assets in the UK.

Laura joined Dr. Sauer & Partners in Toronto in 2023 after completing her Masters degree at the University of Technology in Graz. As a Support Tunnel Engineer, Laura has been involved in a variety of large infrastructure projects ranging from the Ottawa Confederation LRT line (already in service), to the Hurontario LRT Line, which is under construction. She was also involved in the concept design for the Eglinton Crosstown West Extension Advance Tunnel 2 which has now continued into the detail design phase. She has worked on the Fairbanks Silverthorn Sewer project and other infrastructure projects in Canada, and as a support tunnel engineer she is exposed to the many different tasks and steps during a tunnel design.

Alex initially joined Dr. Sauer & Partners in 2011 as a Support Tunnel Engineer in our London office, working on the Tottenham Court Road Station Upgrade Project. She was then involved in Crossrail contract C121 as part of the Category 3 check design team. After completing her PhD studies, she returned to London to start working for the SCL design team for the Bank Station Capacity Upgrade Project. Recently promoted to Senior Tunnel Engineer, Alex now leads an SCL team working on HS2, partnering with the lead Consultant on the project.

Based in the Toronto office, David joined Dr. Sauer & Partners in the autumn of 2018. He is enthusiastic about working in a team of renowned tunnelling specialists and looks forward to having a meaningful impact on the industry. As an experienced professional engineer, David brings a breadth and depth of practical knowledge from both the design and execution of underground projects. Since his first work experience as a mine labourer in 2008, tunnelling has remained a passion for David. He now leads the Canadian office as Deputy Technical Director and Senior Associate, focused on providing tailored engineering solutions and supporting clients from qualification to close-out.

Yusuf joined Dr. Sauer & Partners in 2022 as a Support Tunnel Engineer working as a part of the SEM design team on the Yonge North Subway Extension Technical Advisory. Currently he is the Geotechnical Engineer on site for the Eglinton Crosstown West Extension cross passages. Yusuf specifically joined the company because it is small, yet has a big impact  providing large opportunities that are not possible at other, larger consultants, allowing for responsibility and valuable experience. For Yusuf, Dr. Sauer & Partners creates the best work environment that balances opportunities with an enjoyable company culture that adapts to its employees’ needs.

Bethan joined the London offices of Dr. Sauer & Partners in 2013, working in the team charged with designing the SCL structures for the Bank Station Capacity Upgrade. She quickly progressed to lead the team responsible for assessing LU's existing civil assets at Bank. She is now working as the Lead Tunnels Specialist Discipline Lead on one of our key London transportation project and is responsible for the delivery of tunnelling and asset protection.

Andreas joined Dr. Sauer & Partners as a tunnelling graduate in 2007, and during his time with us has worked on a variety of diverse projects in Europe and North America. Now Technical Director and Partner, he is the technical lead and Head of Discipline on a number of UK transportation and SCL tunnelling projects.

Brian joined Dr. Sauer & Partners in London more than ten years ago and in that time has managed the design of three different projects, most recently assuming the role of Dr. Sauer & Partners' Project Director at LU's Bank Station Capacity Upgrade project in the heart of the City of London. Today he heads up the UK operation as Managing Director in London, responsible for the growth of the UK business and its team.

Franz joined the Washington D.C. office of Dr. Sauer & Partners in 2013 after a summer internship and since then has worked on a variety of projects across North America. He enjoys the small company environment and being able to contribute and make a difference. He was recently promoted to the role of Managing Director for the American operation of the company where he is responsible for delivering the tunnelling projects in his region, and growing the business.

Petr joined Dr. Sauer & Partners in 2011 and has worked on many projects since, including Crossrail Farringdon, LU Bond Street Station and the Metro Red Line in Tel Aviv, Israel. Petr was recognised by NCE as Young Tunneller of the Year 2014 for his innovation and success demonstrated through his work on Crossrail Farringdon and with the ITAYM. He now heads up our operations in Israel and holds the responsibility of Managing Director, focused on business growth and the delivery of tunnelling projects in this region.
