SEBASTIAN KUMPFMUELLER CONTRIBUTES TO TUNNELLING JOURNAL WATERPROOFING ARTICLE

In the latest edition of Tunnelling Journal, Kristina Smith discusses the importance of waterproofing in tunnel construction considering durability, service life and maintenance costs. "The waterproofing – or water management – strategy is crucial to the operation and lifetime of a tunnel. More water ingress than planned can impact on the serviceability of a tunnel, the resources required for maintenance and the frequency of interventions for repair or rehabilitation. Depending on what else is carried in the water, it can degrade concrete, leading to damage and even structural failure."

Dr. Sauer & Partners' Senior Associate, Sebastian Kumpfmueller joined the conversation, where approaches to better long-term outcomes were discussed.
