We are delighted to announce the election of Brian Lyons on to the British Tunnelling Society Committee. The prestigious election took place earlier this month and Brian will take his place on the Committee and serve a three year term. The committee elects a Chair and Vice Chair and co-opt additional members to perform specific functions. There are also a small number of representatives of other bodies on the committee.

Having been elected to secure his place on the Committee, Brian has shared the following; ' I have been involved in tunnelling for 25 years and have seen amazing developments in our industry. Our future projects will require similar innovative steps to tunnel in ever more complex environments and add value to our cities and infrastructure and I am keen to be part of promoting innovation with clients, contractors and designers.
As a lead author on the upcoming BTS SCL Design Best Practice Guideline, I will seek to support similar publications in future to advance our industry. My employer, Dr. Sauer & Partners, provide both design and site services and hopefully this gives me a unique perspective on the tunnel consultancy and contracting worlds plus the view point from a smaller company.'
