We are delighted to announce that Dr. Angelos Gakis has successfully been awarded first place for his paper "3D Geological Model of the Completed Farringdon Underground Railway Station".
The paper was co-authored with contributions from Ms. Paula Cabrero, a former Dr. Sauer & Partners employee, as well as David Entwisle and Holger Kessler from the British Geological Survey (BGS). It was submitted in the 2015 Crossrail Technical Papers Competition and achieved first place from 34 submissions. The competition runs annually and receives papers from a number of disciplines within a broad engineering and technical theme. It is open to all organisations currently or previously involved in the project, including designers, contractors, joint ventures and those working for Crossrail Limited.
Congratulations to Angelos and the rest of the team involved!
The authors have been invited to present their papers at the Institution of Civil Engineers on 12th April, 2016 at Crossrail’s 2015 Technical Papers Competition Winner’s Presentations. This is an open event where shortlisted finalists from the annual competition will present their papers – covering a variety of engineering topics related to recent Crossrail design and construction works. We will post more information nearer this date.
