2024 marks the tenth anniversary for Senior Tunnel Engineer Dr. Alex Moldovan at Dr. Sauer & Partners. Alex joined the company in 2014 after graduating from her PhD, and over the last decade she has worked on several significant tunnelling tasks and projects including HS2, Bank Station Capacity Upgrade, Crossrail and Tottenham Court Road Station Upgrade. Her analytical skills in tunnelling contributed greatly to the CAT3 check of selected Crossrail SCL structures under Dr. Sauer & Partners work for C121 as part of the URS supply chain.
Subsequently she supported the SCL design team of the Bank Station Capacity Upgrade providing 2D and complex 3D FE models assessing the impact of new tunnels on existing underground assets. She has provided her technical expertise to the Crossrail2 and HS2 projects for Arup. Recently under a secondment for ARUP she had been appointed as the Asset Lead for one of the most critical parts in the whole project, where she was involved in the technical, commercial and delivery parts of the project. Currently under her secondment with Arup she is the Package Manager for several packages.
"10 year went so fast, and I remember the day I joined Dr. Sauer & Partners. During this period, I've learned so much and have had a great exposure to many important and challenging infrastructure projects. Being part of a small, specialist company we can make a real difference to the key elements of bigger projects that we work on, which impacts significantly how the project is designed and then constructed. It is an exciting time to be involved in what we do." Alex says of her time with Dr. Sauer & Partners, marking this anniversary.
