The New Civil Engineer Tunnelling Conference and Awards for 2025 took place on 4th December last week in London, fittingly on the feast of St. Barbara. The annual event brings together industry leaders and innovators. The day highlighted the less visible but equally critical areas within tunnelling such as the day to day maintenance, delivery, and sustainability. The role tunnelling plays in hydropower, nuclear power and microtunnelling also saw a significant focus during the day's proceedings.
Some of the Dr. Sauer & Partners team attended, and our MD in Israel, Petr Salak joined the panel discussion "From innovation to evolution: Driving progressive change in tunnelling" which made for an interesting session.
We were also thrilled to be named as finalists for the Technical Innovation of the Year Award 2025 for our work at the Woodsmith Polyhalite Mine in Yorkshire. A huge congratulations to all the teams nominated, and to all the winners - for work that continues to push the boundaries of engineering excellence. The evening was a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the incredible achievements in tunnelling.
