In response to the UK’s increased demands for water, renewable energy and the ongoing hunt for Rare Earth Metals required to support clean energy, Dr. Sauer & Partners is increasingly moving to digital technology. In a bid to reduce personnel access and the associated risks, technology can enhance and automate the inspection and assessment of water tunnels, hydro-power plants and mines.
To meet these challenges, we have signed a collaboration agreement with Hovering Solutions, a specialist drone manufacturer and operator using unique pilotless technologies capable of flying long distances autonomously, in poor atmospheric conditions and without the need for lighting. The output includes LiDAR point cloud, high-resolution georeferenced panoramic pictures, video and 3D textured model which is managed through a digital platform available to clients and engineers.
Combining Hovering’s unique technology with Dr. Sauer & Partners’ knowledge and experience in the assessment and inspection of underground assets around the world, assets such as sewers, penstocks and mine shafts/workings can be safely surveyed with precision delivering detailed digital output. As a drone manufacturer as well as operator, Hovering Solutions’ technology is constantly evolving at their dedicated facility in Madrid, adapting to clients’ needs in terms of survey, sensors and potentially intrusive investigations.
