The Tunnelling Association of Canada's 2023 Awards Banquet took place this week in Toronto, coinciding with the Conference, and Dr. Sauer & Partners is delighted to have been selected as the recipient of the Canadian Photo of the Year Award, which was presented to photographer, Yusuf Soliman at the awards banquet on the Monday evening.
Yusuf's entry into the competition entitled 'Carving Through Bedrock' (below) showing the construction of a cross passage on the Eglinton West Extension for WestEnd Connectors was selected as the overall winner. Entries into the competition must display the essence of the tunnelling industry.
This year’s conference was a great opportunity for the team in Canada to network with peers from across the industry, with Dr. Gerhard Sauer also in attendance, and MD in Canada, Gerald Skalla presenting on the design and construction of large caverns in urban areas.
