In January 2021, we announced Dr. Sauer & Partners' involvement in Jerusalem’s French Hill Tunnels highway project working for the Tunnelling Division of Electra Infrastructure. Two years on and we have now reached the end of our activity on the project as excavation and primary lining installation is completed.
The project in North Jerusalem included the construction of four tunnels in total, running a total distance of 3.5km. The project is one of the most important in the region, and once complete will enable traffic to pass along Road 1 from Tel Aviv to the Dead Sea and towards Northern Jerusalem, flowing freely without the requirement for traffic lights. The project helps ease the congestion for residents in and around North Jerusalem travelling into the city. Dr. Sauer & Partners has provided a detailed design of excavation and support for the primary lining, as well as superior supervision of the tunnels which are now constructed under Jerusalem.
“The Dr. Sauer & Partners team in Israel has been significantly involved in this momentous project for Jerusalem which will now help to considerably improve the congestion issues in Eastern Jerusalem that residents and commuters have experienced to date.” Petr Salak, Managing Director of Dr. Sauer & Partners in Israel said. “It is a great achievement to now see excavation completed and we look forward to seeing the tunnels in operation.”
