Dr Sauer & Partners (DSP) is proud to present Mr. Omar Mohammed as the winner of the prestigious Harding Prize 2017. The Harding Prize recognises outstanding performance in the tunnelling industry by young engineers under 33 years of age.
Omar is a TfL employee who had been seconded into the Dr. Sauer & Partners Design Team at the Bank Station Capacity Upgrade Project, headed by Mr. Brian Lyons. He previously spent over a year with us and is now seconded again in to the DSP team providing Design Representation Services on Site headed by Mr. Andreas Spiegl.
The engineering solution of the pile interception for up to 70 piles affected by the alignment of the new Northern line running tunnels was a joint collaborative achievement of integrated teamwork between TfL/LU as Owner, Dragados as Lead Contractor and Lead Designer and Dr. Sauer & Partners as specialist Tunnelling Consultant. The team was responsible for developing the structural solutions, modelling the settlement images onto the third-party damage assets (buildings), with GCG and Alan Baxter and Associates providing the building damage assessment.
The award not only recognises a great individual performance by Omar for his excellent paper and first class presentation in front of a full audience. It is also a recognition of the united Bank project spirit in which collaboration and integration is more than just a commitment on paper but a real attitude fully embraced by representatives of the Owner (LU), the Main Contractor & Designer (Dragados) as well as multiple specialist sub-consultants, and sub-contractors; a team of which Dr. Sauer & Partners is proud to be part.
