Petr Salak, Managing Director for Dr. Sauer & Partners in Israel was asked to provide a recorded lecture for the Israeli Association of Construction and Infrastructure Engineers (IACIE), which went live last week.
The presentation, “Urban Tunnelling – Pushing the Limits” discusses design and construction challenges in tunnelling engineering in close proximity to existing urban facilities such as operational tunnels, existing foundations and utilities. He discusses complex tunnel geometry and alignments, limited clearance, strict settlement criteria and adverse ground and groundwater conditions. Petr uses several case studies within his discussion sharing details of projects he has worked on whilst at Dr. Sauer & Partners, including Crossrail Farringdon Station and Bond Street Station Upgrade in London, and the Confederation Line in Ottawa, and the Eglinton LRT in Toronto Canada.
