This month, we celebrate the ten-year anniversary at Dr. Sauer & Partners of our UK Managing Director: Brian Lyons.

Over the last decade, since joining Dr. Sauer & Partners he has worked as an active Project Director for many of the largest projects we have been in involved in, including: the detailed SCL design works for London Underground’s Bond Street Station Upgrade Project integrated in a multidisciplinary design team. Subsequently, he led a Dr. Sauer & Partners team delivering the temporary works design for the SCL tunnel works at Crossrail Farringdon Station before moving onto the Bank Station Capacity Upgrade project.

In 2018 he took on the responsibility of Managing Director, UK for Dr. Sauer & Partners, running all aspects of the UK business alongside his active involvement as Project Director in all our ongoing projects. He leads our current projects including Euston Station for HS2 as well as our overseas assignments.

Widely recognised and respected within the tunnelling industry, much of his career has involved working closely with contractors and clients on Design and Construct projects to deliver efficient, innovative and practical solutions. This mix of technical expertise and pragmatism is greatly valued by his customers and peers.

Alongside his commitments to the company, he is a member of the British Tunnelling Society Committee and Technical Sub-Committee. In this capacity, he is lead author on the upcoming British Tunnelling Society Sprayed Concrete Lining Guideline and one of the authors for the 4th Edition of the BTS Specification for Tunnelling Works.

In more recent times, he has guided the company through the challenges that the Covid-19 pandemic has brought, ensuring the business and its employees have been able to adapt to new ways of working.

"It's been a terrific ride working on some amazing projects with truly terrific and supportive people and I look forward to the next decade delivering ever more innovative designs to even more clients and expanding Dr. Sauer & Partner's services into more sectors." Brian commented.

We would like to take the opportunity to thank Brian for his unwavering commitment to the business and look forward to the years ahead!
