Next week, on Tuesday 21st and Wednesday 22nd February 2017, the 4th Arabian Tunnelling Conference & Exhibition takes place at the Ritz Carlton in Dubai. The event, in its fourth year is held in conjunction with the 20thGulf Engineering Forum and sees Tunnelling and Underground Space experts and professionals from the region and further afield gather with a focus on ‘Advancing Underground Space’.
Dr. Sauer & Partners’ Senior Tunnel Engineer, Petr Salak will be presenting during the programme of events on “Optimised openings in steel fibre reinforced, sprayed concrete lined tunnels”. His presentation forms part of the second day of the conference during Technical Session 4. If you are attending the event, you can see Petr’s talk at 10.10 am on Wednesday 22nd February.
Petr will discuss the main factors affecting the post-opening stress distribution as well as a proposed design approach. He will show how this innovative design philosophy delivered significant health and safety, resource and environmental benefits by enabling a large number of openings to be successfully built without introducing any steel mesh / bar reinforcement or additional lining thickenings. Two practical examples will be included in the presentation.
