In April, Dr. Sauer & Partners‘ Senior Tunnel Engineers Dr. Panagiotis Spyridis and Dr. Ali Nasekhian attended EURO:TUN, the fourth International Conference on Computational Methods in Tunnelling and Subsurface Engineering which took place in Innsbruck, Austria.
Throughout the course of the event, Dr. Spyridis presented on several occasions, with a focus on Finite Element Modelling for SCL Tunnels. His first session was a co-presentation with Dr. Nasekhian of their paper: Finite Element modelling for the London Underground Bank Station Capacity Upgrade SCL design and deep tube tunnels assessment.
In another session Dr. Spyridis presented a paper written with Dr. Sauer & Partners‘ Technical Director, Mr. Thomas Schwind: Finite Element modelling for the Parliament and Lyon Station of the Ottawa Confederation line.
The event this year is the fourth in a series of successful ECCOMAS Thematic Conferences on Compurational Methods in Tunnelling which initially began back in 2007 in Vienna, and was attended by many Tunnelling Professionals. Thank you to Panos and Ali for their hard work in representing the company and showcasing cutting edge usage of 3D FE modelling in complex geometrical and geotechnical conditions in urban rail station projects.
