Dr. Sauer & Partners is proud to have been nominated by TfL at this year’s TfL Supplier Awards. The company has been recommended for the ‘Efficiencies and Innovations Award’ for its specialist tunnelling design work over a number of recent major TfL station upgrades in London.
The Dr. Sauer team has delivered innovative design solutions that have resulted in considerable savings to TfL project estimated final costs (EFCs) and significantly, led to safer and easier to construct works. In particular, the design of the pile interceptions at Bank Station Capacity Upgrade allowed innovative approaches to tunnel construction, reducing both capital and operating costs through a more direct alignment. Additionally, 3D modelling to identify clashes and tunnel interface risk early in the design of Holborn Station upgrade delivered more confidence in the safe design of the proposed works and the construction programme.
Rand Watkins, Principal Project Engineer for TfL’s Future Stations Programme commented: “The team are always collaborative in their approach, very focussed on TfL requirements as a railway operator and open in their dealings with all parties to the project.”
Dr. Sauer & Partners’ Brian Lyons said of the nomination “We have been working with TfL for over a decade now across various projects including Bank, Bond Street, Tottenham Court Road and Green Park stations. These projects have enabled the Dr. Sauer team to develop and apply cutting edge design solutions that are uniquely moulded to the complex challenges and geometries inherent in the London Underground system.”
We look forward to the awards on 15th November 2017!
