Dr. Sauer & Partners is looking forward to attending the Midland Institute of Mining Engineers’ 17th Annual Safety Seminar this Friday in Sheffield. The theme of this year’s seminar is ‘Safely Managing the Challenge of Change’ and Senior Associate, Sebastian Kumpfmueller will present our work at the Woodsmith Mine Project looking at prevention through design with a focus on the 350 metre deep MTS Shaft Inset Ground Support.
Sebastian will outline how safety through design has been a key objective to manage and minimise risks associated with the design and construction of the underground structures. To reduce the risks as low as reasonably practicable, constructability and choice of ground support, tailored to the prevailing ground conditions played a vital part in the design.
We look forward to attending, and to meeting new colleagues within the mining community!
Further information and the agenda for the event can be found on the Midland Institute of Mining Engineers website.
