Dr. Sauer & Partners has joined forces with CIRIA (Construction Industry Research and Information Association) along with other leading companies within the tunnelling industry for a research project that will update good practise developments within Tunnelling.
The main objective of the project is to provide the tunnelling industry with a complementary guide to C671 that includes the latest good practice developments since the original document was written in 2009. The project will see good practise guidelines being made available in both printed and electronic format that will be circulated across the industry.
The new guide will reflect industry advances, particularly with reference to advanced technological innovation and current tunnel asset owner requirements. Additionally, the progress of such a guide will help save costs relating to inspection and maintenance of tunnels. Another end goal is to assist in improved health and safety practices which come about through a reduction of time spent by individuals in tunnels.
Brian Lyons, UK MD commented: "Building on our current work on Network Rail's tunnel refurbishment programme and significant assessment and strengthening works over the last decade on London Underground’s tunnel network, I believe Dr. Sauer & Partners brings a unique and valuable offering to this workstream and we look forward to delivering further value to asset owners through this publication."
