On Monday night, Dr Sauer & Partners hosted a river cruise dinner as part of the European Tunnel Seminar (ETS #11) managed and coordinated by David R. Klug & Associates. The dinner followed presentations during the day that saw one of our Partners, Jürgen Laubbichler deliver an update on our ongoing work in Ottawa for the new metro line. Senior Associate, Brian Lyons also presented along with London Underground’s Simon Addyman and Ian Watkins from Dragados giving an overview and update of the Bank-Monument station complex and our involvement in the BSCU project.
The European Tunnel Seminar is now in its 11th year, and provides a forum for tunnelling professionals mainly from North America to exchange ideas and share information. The purpose of this year’s seminar is to have an international information and technology exchange on how the many major tunnel projects in the UK (completed, under construction and in the planning stage) are planned, financed, designed and constructed.
We were pleased to be able to participate in the event that runs for the week, and hope that the river cruise was enjoyed by all that attended.
Further highlights of the week-long seminar include presentations on Crossrail, Thames Tideway and Victoria Station Upgrade by other design consultancies. There is also a visit to the Brunel museum and shaft and a sightseeing tour of the great cities of London and Westminster.
