The TAC, (Tunnelling Association of Canada) celebrated its second physical event of the year last week following on from a very successful TAC 2020-one conference that was took place earlier in October. 

Sunday 15th November 2020 marked the next major milestone for the project, breakthrough of Tunnel 2 was executed and with this the most difficult and challenging part of excavation for the project completed. Congratulations to all of the project team on this momentous occasion.

Laird, Avenue and Oakwood crowned winners of the Tunnelling Association of Canada's Canadian Project of the Year Award 2020.

The highway 401 Rail Tunnel project consists of two tunnels, each 188m long with a maximum overburden of 2-5m. Dr. Sauer & Partners delivered the tunnel design for the Toronto Tunnel Partners (TTP).

The Confederation line is an electrically powered light rail line crossing Canada’s capital from west to east and opened to the public on September 14, 2019. It was the largest infrastructure project in the history of the City of Ottawa. Rideau station is one of three mined underground stations on the line.

After three years of tunnelling on the Eglinton Crosstown LRT project, Laird Station is the first of the three mined stations to have completed SEM tunnelling.

Construction of the CSST continues in Ottawa, with the TBM successfully crossing the Rideau river early this year.

Tunnel Construction has advanced well on all three SEM stations on the Eglinton Crosstown LRT project.
