The Highway 401 and 409 Rail Tunnel is a Metrolinx project delivered in partnership with Infrastructure Ontario. The two new 180 m tunnels constructed under 21 lanes of one of the busiest highways in North America will provide a capacity increase on the Kitchener GO line helping to bring more frequent, all-day, two-way service on core segments of the network and even allowing for double-stacked freight.
Dr. Sauer & Partners has been providing detailed design of excavation and support for the primary lining of the tunnelsthat are currently being constructed under Jerusalem. At the time of reporting more than 65% of tunnels have already been excavated.
